Ukrainian Journalist, Activist and Politician
Svitlana Zalishchuk has dedicated her life to the public welfare of Ukraine as a journalist, activist and now politician. In 2014, Zalishchuk was elected to Ukrainian parliament. Previous to this, she founded the Chesno civil movement to advance fairer election processes, bring awareness and critical analysis to corrupt public officials, and to promote honest governance. She also founded the journalist movement Stop Censorship! Previously, Zalishchuk was an anchor of the live political television show, “From the Other Side.” She was also an international reporter for 5 Kanal—the only media station that broadcasted the Orange Revolution in 2004. Zalishchuk has also served as Secretary of State and head of the Presidential Secretariat of Ukraine under President Victor Yushchenko.
