Child Developmental Psychologist, Professor and Public Servant
As a child developmental psychologist focusing on education and learning, Sidney Strauss is interested in how teaching is a unique and natural cognitive ability of humans. Strauss himself taught at the School of Education and Developmental Psychology at Tel Aviv University for 38 years. Taking a break from academia, he acted as the Chief Scientist for the Israeli Ministry of Education. During this time, he became exposed to educational policy-making. He has also acted as a foreign affiliate of the National Academy of Education in the United States and a resident scholar at the Rockefeller Foundation. Currently he is teaching at the Center for Academic Studies in Or Yehuda, near Tel Aviv.
