Prominent Czech Writer, Translator and Documentarian.
Internationally renowned for both his Czech and English writings, Jan Novák writes novels, plays, and screenplays. Many of his writings focus on themes of immigration and escape, inspired by his own experience as a Czech immigrant to the United States. His novel So Far So Good focused on the Mašín brothers, who resisted the communist regime in Czechoslovakia in the 1950s and later escaped to West Berlin. The novel won the Magnesia Litera award for book of the year in 2005.
