Czech Artist Famous for Public Sculptures
In the early 1990s, David Černý graduated from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. He spent a few years on residential internships abroad. Since 1989, he has gained international attention through dozens of exhibitions and installations. In his projects, he handles various topics and often reflects on current social events or historical stereotypes through his distinctive aesthetic. He works with traditional techniques and modern technologies. Apart from his own artistic projects, he was part of the creation of the art center, Meetfactory, which offers multi-genre dramaturgy and residential ateliers. Apart from many other awards, Černý received the Jindřicha Chalupecký award in 2000.
