Chris Hedges

Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter and nonfiction author

Chris Hedges spent two decades as a war reporter on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. In his book, a tour de force called War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning, Hedges draws on his first hand experience of violence to make the argument that war is exhilarating, addictive and even “gives us purpose, meaning, a reason for living.” As an activist and minister, Hedges fights against such war impulses, social inequality, climate change, and other critical issues facing our time. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize and the Amnesty International Global Award for Human Rights Journalism in 2002 for his journalistic work in conflict zones.
